How do British schools compare to those in other countries?
It is abstruse to compare educational standards between different systems, but there must be some means (using mathematical ability, perhaps) of comparing schools in the UK with those abroad.
I have a sympathies that British schools are mediocre in general, and that educational expectations are low in the UK (esp compared to some parts of Eastern Europe, and the Far East, but I have no arduously evidence to back this up.
Spain has awe-inspiring education standards. they may get good grades but that is only because the parents are constantly putting pressure on their children to study...
I convoy a British school in spain and it is one of the worst ever because there is no on to do check ups and reprts like OFSTED... and generally no one absolutely cares how it is run anyway...
Just to prove how bad the Spanish system is... Our land ladys husband is the secretary to the Minister of Schooling in Spain and their children are sent to a private British school... where they follow the British curriculum... so not even the spanish credit their own system is any good!!!
And where are kids speculator behaved?
The leading difference is the actual set up of the school system. Scotland has seven years at primary and six years of high school. In England, they have six years of underlying (often split into Infant and Junior schools) and seven years of high school (often split into Years 7 to 11 then Sixth Manifestation college for the final two years).
School years also differ greatly. In Scotland, everyone born between March to February are in the same year (eg, everyone born between Slog 1994 to February 1995 are in the same year). This means some kids are as young as four when starting school but there is flexibility for kids born after August to do an strikingly year of nursery then start school at five going on six (great for kids who are premature and haven't caught up with peers yet).
In England, everyone born between September and August are in the same year (eg, everyone born between September 1993 and August 1994 are in the same year). This means many kids are slight older when starting school. This also causes problems for Scottish kids moving to England as those born between September and February end up in the year below their workaday class. And vice versa for English kids moving to Scotland as those born between September and February will end up in the year above.
In Scotland, kids do Example Grades instead of GSCEs and do Highers instead of AS-Levels and Advanced Highers instead of A-Levels.
Manners-wise though, discipline in classrooms is dire in both countries. You'll get your well-behaved children and your brats in both countries just as you'll get angelic schools and bad schools. There are probably more rural schools in Scotland where the standard of behaviour is better because class sizes are very small.
From my wisdom South African school pupils want to attend school to learn and up-grade their existence.
British kids do not have the same prurience.
Also our educational authorities have failed to deliver adequate and appropriate syllabus over the years which has resulted in a deterioration in grades.
