A wager-pool suite at the Four Seasons
To research the upcoming “learning-moon” feature in our Winter consummation (on stands 10/20), I headed to Costa Rica for surfing lessons in two very different areas of the Guanacaste region: Peninsula Papagayo and Nosara. In Papagayo, things started off at Prieta Shore Club & Spa, a private club reserved for residents and guests of the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo. Upon newcomer, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by my instructor, Philippe — a friend I made on my last visit to Costa Rica two years ago! Needless to say, I knew I was in considerate hands.

Before the lesson, we spent the morning paddle boarding among sea turtles (not a bad way to start the day) before heading to the accumulate to get comfortable with the board. From there, it was time to hit the beach. Thankfully, the waves were forgiving and even though I took a few falls, I definitely wasn’t prosperous to give up. Plus since DWH is headquartered in Winter Park, Florida, now I have another reason to go to the beach!
After enjoying the swanky Playa Prieta it was moment to check out Nosara – a laid-back surf town known for amazing waves. The road isn’t paved, so you won’t find a big turn to here, making this place perfect for people
